IT & Operations Coordinator

Little Yarra Steiner School is a K-12 school located in Yarra Junction in the beautiful Yarra Valley of Victoria. We are seeking an IT and Operations Coordinator to join the school as a key member of the Administration team. Responsible for overseeing data management and school-wide systems internally within the school, the ability to manage and continually improve systems and processes as well as an eye for detail and system integrity is a key requirement. Reporting to the Business Manager, this position is offered on a full time basis.

Key responsibilities of this position are:

  • Liaise with technical support to manage and troubleshoot the school’s IT & school operations
  • Maintain and update the school’s IT and data management hardware and software systems, including print management and phones.
  • Review and update the IT plan annually
  • Provide written and verbal guidance and training for the access, use and care of technology within the school
  • Ensure the smooth and effective IT systems including running updates, beta testing, back up, training and support
  • Manage the school’s software and app requirements and updates, including the TASS student database system
  • Oversee and support the set up, maintenance, integrity, compliance and security of the school’s digital information, data and record keeping such as copyright, anaphylaxis, first aid and incident reports, staff and student records and semester reports
  • Support the Steiner IT curriculum and healthy IT usage and practices within the school and the wider school community
  • Maintain and support the remote learning IT requirements of teachers and students via the school’s website and other cloud-based platforms

  3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to listen to, identify the needs and communicate effectively with staff, students and contractors
  4. Understanding of and ability to work professionally in a school environment
  5. Effective time management skills
  6. Able to work constructively and cooperatively as part of a team
  7. Hold and maintain a current Working with Children check

Desirable Selection Criteria

  1. Appreciation and/or understanding of Steiner education
  2. Experience in facilities and/or contract management
  3. Capacity to contribute beneficially and support the overall management and leadership of the school

CLASS 6 TEACHER 2022 – Fixed term (Maternity Leave) 

We are seeking an experienced teacher with exemplary skills to take next year’s Class 6 for 2022 while their Class Teacher is on maternity leave.

The Class Teacher strives to be a figure of moral authority and must be fully committed to the care and appropriate development of the children in the class.

The Class Teacher’s primary responsibility is to present the curriculum as outlined by the school. In doing so, the Class Teacher is expected to work with the school’s ethos, policies and procedures in close cooperation with their colleagues and to develop positive and professional relationships and with parents and staff.

 Key Selection Criteria:

 An Anthroposophical understanding of child development and commitment to deepening an understanding and practice of Anthroposophy

  1. Thorough understanding and experience of the Steiner curriculum
  2. Exemplary interpersonal communication skills and rapport with children
  3. Proven ability to nurture and maintain positive and professional relationships with parents and colleagues
  4. Proven ability to differentiate instruction utilising a variety of strategies
  5. Ability to create and maintain a sound learning environment in the classroom
  6. Teacher training in Steiner Education
  7. VIT registration or eligibility to obtain it

This position is full-time and commences in 2022. Remuneration is in accordance with the appropriate category in the scale of the Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2020 and inclusive of any above award payments being generally applied at the school.

HANDCRAFT PRIMARY TEACHER 2022

Little Yarra is a Kindergarten to Class 12 Steiner School in Yarra Junction in the Yarra Valley. The school is seeking an experienced teacher with exemplary skills to teach Handcraft in the primary years.

A Specialist Teacher’s responsibility is to bring in an artistic way, the curriculum as outlined by the School. In doing this, a Specialist Teacher is expected to work in cooperation with their fellow teachers and the school’s policies and procedures. Further responsibilities include:

  • working out of a deep Anthroposophical understanding of child development;
  • recognising and respecting the individuality of each child in the class, both their specific gifts and their challenges;
  • teaching out of a love for the children and the subject ;
  • creating and maintaining a sound learning environment in the classroom;
  • using a variety of strategies to engage all the children in class in the lessons taught;
  • keeping on-going assessment records of each child in the class;
  • communicating with and supporting the work of Class Teachers in light of the relevant epoch and development of the child.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated extensive knowledge, understanding and experience with the Waldorf/Steiner Handcraft curriculum and how it meets the child developmentally and pedagogically
  2. Excellent classroom management skills
  3. High level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents and other staff.
  4. Eligibility for VIT registration

Desirable skills, knowledge and traits

  1. Teacher training in Steiner Education
  2. Highly motivated and enthusiastic personality
  3. Previous experience working in a Steiner School
  4. Current First Aid Certificate

This position is part time (EFT 0.41 over 3 days) and commences in Term 1 2022.
